Saber Strike 17 Opens in Latvia

ADAZI, Latvia — Latvian officer 2nd Lt. Viktors Paloks, second platoon commander, 3rd Coy, 2nd Infantry Battalion, Land Forces Infantry Brigade, salutes the nation flag in the opening ceremony of Saber Strike on Adazi Military Base, Latvia, June 3, 2017. Saber Strike is a U.S. Army Europe-led multinational combined forces exercise which occurs annually in the Baltic region. This is the seventh year Saber Strike is in effect and 20 nations are participating in the event, across the borders of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.The countries in the exercise are Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, United Kingdom and the United States.
