The Combined U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and U.S. African Command (USAFRICOM) Surgeons' Synchronization Meeting took place Feb. 10-13, 2020 to share military medical priorities and challenges across both service component commands, NATO organizations and European partner nations.

The annual surgeon’s meeting served as a forum for leaders to discuss opportunities for partnership, address operational military medical issues, and synchronize medical efforts across the theaters. The partnerships and networks built enable the speed and effectiveness of the medical capabilities throughout the theater.

"In Europe and Africa, partnerships are critical for ensuring medically ready forces and ready medical forces enable global operations for the U.S. and the Alliance,” said U.S. Navy Capt. Mark Kobelja, the USEUCOM Surgeon General. “Our European partners have world class healthcare and military medical capability. This meeting is designed to enhance those partnerships and increase our military medical interoperability in the shared domain of medical support."

During the conference, participants and attendees challenged themselves to think about how to best enhance and test allied military medical interoperability in different settings and scenarios.
