U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Edward Vaughan, Deputy Director of Plans, Policy, Strategy and Capabilities at United States European Command, participated Feb. 24-25, 2022, in the Black Sea Maritime Forum organized by the Romanian Naval Forces in collaboration with U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Allied Joint Force Command Naples, Italy.

At the forum, Black Sea Allies and Partners met in Bucharest, Romania, to discuss regionally-focused security and coordination with Black Sea heads of navies, coast guards and other related ministry and government representatives.

Building on the strong U.S.-Romanian relationship, Vaughan met with his counterpart from the Romania Defense Staff, Col. Emilian Chirea.

“The Black Sea Maritime Forum was an important event for dialogue at a critical time, and I'm grateful to our Romanian Allies for hosting,” Vaughan said. “I'm also appreciative for the opportunity to meet with Col. Chirea and put in the work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Ally.”

U.S. European Command and its forces are committed to the Black Sea region and will continue to operate there with the assistance of our Allies and Partners.
