Members of the U.S.-Poland Joint Commission tasked with implementing the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (ECDA) met to discuss various topics related to advancing this historic burden-sharing agreement.
On December 18, 2024, EUCOM Director for Plans, Policy, and Strategy, U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Russel Driggers and Poland’s Director for the International Security Policy Department, Piotr Pacholski, met at Poland’s Ministry of National Defense in Warsaw. Both delegations consisted of civilian and military leaders representing one of the eleven functional area subcommittees of the Joint Commission. During the exchange, the Joint Commission Co-Chairs received information pertaining to the status of various infrastructure and logistics support projects, as well as updates on implementing arrangements and the establishment of a EUCOM-led Joint Program Office forward-located in Poland.
“Poland is leading the way and setting the example with the modernization of its military. This bilateral relationship is critical to defense and deterrence for Europe. Establishing a forward-located Joint Program office will facilitate EDCA implementation efforts to support US Forces in Poland.” said Maj. Gen. Driggers. The Joint Commission provided an opportunity to work bilaterally on implementation of the EDCA.
"We look forward to conducting the next Joint Commission at the EUCOM Headquarters in Stuttgart in the spring of 2025."
U.S. European Command and its forces are committed to strengthening the relationship with our Ally Poland and will continue to build readiness together in support of a stronger Alliance.
