The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and Office of Defense Cooperation in Kyiv co-sponsored a resilience workshop with Ukraine's Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the U.S. Institute for Security Governance in Krakow, Poland, Feb. 6-7, 2024.

Developed in support of Ukraine's national resilience agenda, the workshop sought to advance the government of Ukraine's efforts to develop a culture of preparedness, empower communities and promote resilience against all threats and hazards.

During the event Ukrainian participants from 14 ministries and government agencies benefited from informational exchanges with U.S. subject matter experts and a senior representative from Sweden's Civil Contingency Agency.

The workshop raised participants' awareness of U.S. and Swedish legislative mandates and evolving national practices for the examination and validation of capabilities in all preparedness mission areas: prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery. It also laid the foundation for the potential establishment of a national exercise program in Ukraine.

Additional resilience-related information exchanges are planned between Ukraine's Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the ODC and ISG in the coming year.
