U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces signed a memorandum of understanding Jan. 21 for a Polish liaison officer to join the USEUCOM headquarters staff.

“The agreement to bring a Polish liaison officer to the USEUCOM headquarters staff will substantially increase the coordination and collaboration between our two organizations,” said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Charles Miller, USEUCOM’s director of plans, policy, strategy and capabilities. “Poland is an important NATO ally and this agreement will enhance our already strong military-to-military relationship.”

The Polish officer will join liaison officers from 15 other countries in USEUCOM’s Multinational Coordination Cell.

Liaison officers serve an important role at the command and help synchronize planning efforts between USEUCOM and their home nations. This signing is another example of the close cooperation between the Polish and U.S. militaries.
