U.S. Air Force Gen. Tod D. Wolters, Commander, U.S. European Command, and U.S. Navy Adm. John C. Aquilino, Commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, joined leaders for the Pacific Future Forum reception aboard the HMS Prince of Wales in the United Kingdom, Oct. 20.

The Pacific Future Forum, hosted by the U.K. government, brings together senior decision makers and distinguished thought leaders from both Western and Pacific nations to foster dialogue and cooperation between democratic nations.

As he attended the event, Wolters reflected on the relationship between Europe and the Pacific region.

“The presence of two U.S. Combatant Commanders at this forum clearly highlights the importance of the Pacific region and shows that we all live in an interconnected world, unconstrained by regional borders,” said Wolters.

Adm. Aquilino is in the U.K. to discuss the importance of the Indo-Pacific region to all nations and to explore future opportunities for combined operations with allies, partners, and friends to ensure constant access to the global commons and continued prosperity for all.

“Our defense cooperation with like-minded nations provides the assurances for a free and open Indo-Pacific, where the international rules-based order is maintained and every nation, no matter the size, has an equal voice, and the ability to settle all disputes peacefully,” said Aquilino.

The Indo-Pacific region is a vital driver of the global economy and includes four of the five largest economies, the world's busiest international sea lanes, and nine of the ten largest ports. The U.S. is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
