U.S. and Turkish military forces began joint ground patrols in northeast Syria today for the first time since the establishment of the combined joint operations center (CJOC). The patrols demonstrate continued commitment toward addressing Turkey's legitimate security concerns on their southern border. The purpose of the patrols is to maintain security in northeast Syria so ISIS cannot reemerge and to allow the coalition to remain focused on achieving the enduring defeat of ISIS.
