Team Ramstein touches down for D-Day 75

Team Ramstein arrived at Cherbourg-Maupertus Airport, France to support the commemoration of D-Day in the Normandy Region, France, May 30.

CHERBOURG-OCTEVILLE, France – More than 100 Airmen from Team Ramstein arrived at Cherbourg-Maupertus Airport to support the commemoration of D-Day in Normandy, France, May 30. The United States, along with several other nations will honor the sacrifice of the greatest generation at events throughout the Normandy region of France 1-9 June, 2019. “It is an honor to be here and to commemorate the invasion of Normandy, 75 years later,” said U.S. Air Force Capt. Michael Ceci, 37th Airlift Squadron pilot and deputy mission commander. “I’ve always wanted to see the places where these defining moments in history and unbelievable acts of bravery actually took place. I’m honored and humbled to partake in the flight operations.”

The 37th Airlift Squadron is scheduled to support over 44 flyovers throughout the week with participation from seven NATO countries. To see more coverage of the 86th Airlift Wing, please check out our base website at www.ramstein.af.mil or on our DVIDS page.
